Know the benefits of continuous glucose monitoring vs. blood sugar monitoring.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 system allows you to conveniently check your glucose with a quick glance at your smartphone.* Read on to learn more about how it all works!

How does continuous glucose monitoring work?

Blood glucose meters take glucose (sugar) readings from capillaries (blood vessels) with a finger prick.1 Continuous glucose monitoring systems are different. The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor measures glucose levels from the interstitial fluid - a thin layer of fluid that surrounds the cells of the tissues in your skin. Glucose is also found in interstitial fluid because it moves there from blood vessels.2

When applied, the needle on the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor extends just past the skin into interstitial fluid where it can measure your glucose levels.
