Glucose information at a glance

The FreeStyle Libre sensor continuously measures glucose every minute and saves the glucose data. Scan the sensor at least every 8 hours for a full glycemic profile. The below data is displayed after a typical 1-second scan of the FreeStyle LibreLink app5 or FreeStyle Libre reader via the sensor:

  • Glucose trend arrow

Easy to spot ups, downs and night-time lows and see which way and how quickly glucose levels are changing.

  • Current glucose reading

You can get your current glucose reading by an easy scan of the FreeStyle Libre sensor.

  • Food and insulin notes

Easy to add notes to track food, insulin use, exercise, and other events.

  • 8-hour glucose history

Get the last 8 hours of glucose data.

How does flash glucose monitoring work?

Blood glucose meters take glucose readings from capillary blood with a finger prick. Flash glucose monitoring systems are different. Scanning the FreeStyle Libre sensor with a phone or the reader measures the glucose levels from the interstitial fluid, a thin layer of fluid that surrounds the cells of the tissues in your skin.

What is it?

The FreeStyle Libre system is accurate, stable and consistent over 14 days without the need for routine finger pricking1,2 or calibrations9.

How does it work?

To obtain a glucose reading, simply perform a quick, painless14 1-second scan of your smartphone5 over the FreeStyle Libre sensor.

This easy scan gives you more information without the need for finger pricking1,2.

How is it used?

The FreeStyle Libre sensor is water-resistant4 and can be worn while bathing, showering, swimming or exercising.

1. Scanning the sensor to obtain glucose levels does not require lancets.

2. Finger pricks are required if glucose readings do not match symptoms or expectations.

3. 60-minute warm-up required when applying the sensor.

4. Sensor is water resistant in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes. Not to be used above 10,000 feet.

10. The FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System Reader (“Reader”) when used with a FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System Sensor (“Sensor”) is indicated for measuring interstitial fluid glucose levels in people (age 4 and older) with diabetes mellitus, including pregnant women. The Reader and Sensor are designed to replace blood glucose testing in the self-management of diabetes, including dosing of insulin.

11. The reader can capture data from the sensor when it is within 1 cm to 4 cm of the sensor.
