FreeStyle Libre 2 coverage in the Northwest Territories 

Yes! The FreeStyle Libre 2 system is reimbursed under the Northwest Territories Healthcare Plan as “Limited Use” benefit. “Limited Use” means that you have to meet certain criteria to be eligible for coverage.  

You may be eligible for coverage if you have a valid prescription for the FreeStyle Libre 2 system AND you:

- Are 19 years of age or younger and are on intensive insulin therapy (i.e., you administer short-acting insulin three or more times per day); or

- You have type 1 diabetes

Coverage includes the FreeStyle Libre 2 Systems.

Take your prescription to the pharmacy. They will verify if you’re covered for the FreeStyle Libre 2 system. The pharmacy will then submit the claim directly to the government program for reimbursement or direct billing.
