FreeStyle Libre 2 coverage in Saskatchewan
You may be eligible for public coverage of the FreeStyle Libre 2 system if you're enrolled in the Saskatchewan Drug Plan and are in one of the following groups*:
- 25 years of age or younger, who manage their Diabetes with insulin.
- 65 years of age or older, who manage their Diabetes with insulin.
- Pediatric patients with diabetes under 18 years old who are either approved for the Saskatchewan Insulin Pump Program; or on both basal and bolus insulin; or have hyperinsulinism requiring frequent blood glucose monitoring and meet the eligibility criteria*.

Saskatchewan residents with valid Saskatchewan Health Coverage may be eligible for Drug Plan benefits. To learn more, visit the Government of Saskatchewan website.
Coverage includes the Freestyle Libre 2 sensors only. The Freestyle Libre 2 reader is not reimbursed through the Saskatchewan Drug Plan, but may be obtained through Abbott Customer Service.

Requests may be approved through the online Exception Drug Status adjudication (OEA) process based on age and prior insulin history. Your healthcare professional might also need to complete an exception status request form PDF (992 kb). They will need to include information such as your Health Card number, date of birth, and confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria.
