Choosing the site?

Select an area on the back of your upper arm, avoiding areas with moles, scarring, or recent insulin injections. Select a different site than the one most recently used.

Preparing your skin

Preparing your skin is an important step toward ensuring adhesion. Watch the sensor adhesion videos in the support section of this website for tips on how to prepare your skin before application 

Applying the sensor

The sensor pack and sensor applicator are packaged as a set .

 

Applying the sensor

  • Open the sensor pack by peeling off the lid completely. Unscrew the cap from the sensor applicator and set the cap aside

  • Line up the dark mark on the sensor applicator with the dark mark on the sensor pack. On a hard surface, press down firmly on the sensor applicator until it comes to a stop

  • Place the sensor applicator over the prepared site and push down firmly until the sensor is in place.

  • Make sure the sensor is secure after application. Put the cap back on the sensor applicator. Discard the used sensor pack and sensor applicator per local regulations

Note that the FreeStyle LibreLink application is only compatible with select phone models that have the NFC functionality. Many smartphone models are already compatible with the FreeStyle LibreLink app. Here is a list of models that are compatible.

The FreeStyle Libre sensor communicates with the FreeStyle Libre reader that started it or the FreeStyle LibreLink app that started it. A sensor started by the FreeStyle Libre reader will also communicate with the FreeStyle LibreLink app. The FreeStyle LibreLinkapp is only compatible with certain NFC enabled mobile devices and operating systems.
