What’s the difference between a FreeStyle LibreLink app and LibreLinkUp app?

The LibreLink app* is for people with diabetes. They wear a Libre 2 or Libre 2 Plus Sensor which sends glucose readings to their app, so they can monitor their glucose on their smartphone.

The LibreLinkUp§ app is an app for family, friends, and caregivers of someone with diabetes. It enables them to receive glucose data and alarms^ on their smartphone, keeping them in the loop. It’s a support app, so it isn’t used with a FreeStyle Libre system 2 sensor.

* The FreeStyle LibreLink app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Please check our website for more information about device compatibility before using the apps. Sharing of glucose data requires registration with LibreView.
§ The LibreLinkUp app is only compatible with certain mobile device and operating systems. Please check www.librelinkup.com for more information about device compatibility before using the app. Use of the LibreLinkUp app requires registration with LibreView. LibreLinkUp is not intended to be used for dosing decisions. The user should follow instructions on the continuous glucose monitoring system. LibreLinkUp is not intended to replace self-monitoring practices as advised by a physician.
^ The user’s device must have internet connectivity for glucose data to automatically upload to LibreView and to transfer to connected LibreLinkUp app users.
