No. With the FreeStyle Libre 2 system, you do not need to scan to receive a glucose reading if you are using the LibreLink^◊ app v2.12.1 or later. When your Libre 2 Plus sensor is paired with your smartphone, you will automatically see the latest glucose information after you open the app or when you receive an alarm^{^} notification on your compatible smartphone. You will still have the option to scan your phone or reader for glucose readings anytime including periods of signal loss.

◊ The FreeStyle LibreLink app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Please check the website for more information about device compatibility before using the app. Sharing of glucose data requires registration with LibreView.
