No. With the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus system, you do not need to scan to receive a glucose reading if you are using the latest version of the FreeStyle LibreLink app¹. When your FreeStyle libre 3 Plus sensor is paired with your smartphone, you will automatically see the latest glucose information after you open the app or when you receive an alarm² notification on your compatible smartphone. You still have the option to scan your phone or reader for glucose readings anytime including periods of signal loss.

1. The FreeStyle LibreLink app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Please check our website for more information about device compatibility before using the app. Use of the FreeStyle LibreLink app may require registration with LibreView.  

2. Notifications will only be received when alarms are turned on and the sensor is within 20 feet unobstructed of the reading device. You must enable the appropriate settings on your smartphone to receive alarms and alerts, see the FreeStyle Libre 3 User’s Manual for more information.
