How to set up the FreeStyle Libre 2 System

Sign in or set up your account

Once the LibreLink app is installed on your smartphone, open it and you'll be prompted to sign in or create an account. If you are new to LibreLink app or LibreView, follow the steps to set up your account.

Why create an account?

  • Your glucose readings will be automatically uploaded to LibreViewΔ — no meter or reader cables required.Share your data with your care team through Connected Apps

  • Your personal glucose information is stored on a secure, cloud-based system1

  • If you change phones, you can still access all your data on LibreView

Apply and start your Libre 2 Plus sensor

1. Wash, clean, and dry

Select a site on the back of your upper arm that stays flat during normal activity. Clean skin with non-moisturizing, fragrance-free soap and water. Use an alcohol wipe to clean the skin and let air dry before proceeding.

2. Prepare applicator

Peel lid from the Sensor Pack and unscrew cap from the Sensor Applicator. Line up dark mark on Sensor Applicator with dark mark on Sensor Pack. Press down firmly and then lift.

Do NOT put cap back on as it may damage the sensor.

3. Apply

Apply the sensor to the back of your upper arm by pressing firmly. Listen for the click. Wait for a few seconds and pull back slowly, leaving the sensor on the skin.

  • From the app's Main Menu tap Start New Sensor.

  • Scan your sensor according to your smartphone type.

    • For iOS smartphones:

      Touch the sensor with the TOP of your smartphone. You will receive a tone and vibration after you have successfully turned on your sensor.

    • For Android smartphones

      Start a new sensor by scanning with the BACK of your smartphone. You may need to turn on NFC in your smartphone's settings.

      Each smartphone model is different. Move your smartphone around slowly if needed.

  • The sensor can be used to check your glucose after a 1-hour warm-up period.

    You can use your smartphone while your sensor is warming up. You will automatically receive a notification when your sensor is ready, if notifications are turned on.  

How to set up the FreeStyle Libre 3 System

Download the Libre 3 app◊◊

With the Libre 3 app, your Libre 3 or Libre 3 Plus sensor sends glucose readings to your phone every minute. No need to scan.

1. Wash, prep, and dry

  • From the app's Home Screen, scan your sensor.

  • Scan your sensor according to your smartphone type

    • For iOS smartphones:

      Tap the Scan New Sensor button, then Touch the sensor with the TOP of your phone. You will receive a tone and vibration after you have successfully started the sensor.

    • For Android smartphones:

      Start a new sensor by scanning with the BACK of your smartphone. You will receive a tone and vibration after you have successfully started the sensor.
       

    Each smartphone model is different. Move your smartphone around slowly if needed.

Note: If you have an active Sensor and want to start a new Sensor, go to the Menu and tap Start New Sensor.
