The FreeStyle Libre sensor continuously measures your glucose levels, day and night, without the need for finger pricking^a.

This small and water-resistant^b sensor is worn on the back of your upper arm and lasts for up to 14 days whilst you shower, bathe, swim, exercise or play¹.

Getting started with the FreeStyle Libre sensor

Start using the FreeStyle Libre system in 3 easy steps

APPLY THE SENSOR¹

The FreeStyle Libre sensor is applied on to the back of the upper arm with a disposable device called an applicator.
When the sensor is applied, a thin, flexible and sterile fibre is inserted just under the skin. It is held in place with a small adhesive pad.

SCAN SENSOR¹

To obtain a glucose reading, simply perform a quick, painless^c 1-second scan of the reader over the sensor.
This scan gives you more information than monitoring with blood glucose test strips, without the need for finger pricks^a.

GET READING

Each scan over the sensor gives a current glucose reading, the last 8 hours of glucose history, and a trend arrow showing if glucose is going up, down, or changing slowly^f,1.

The FreeStyle Libre software is intended for use by individuals and health care professionals to aid in the review, analysis, and evaluation of information such as sensor glucose readings, blood glucose test results, blood ketone test results, and other data uploaded from the FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system, in support of an effective diabetes health management program

The FreeStyle Libre software is not intended for the diagnosis of or screening for diabetes mellitus. Users should be aware that the FreeStyle Libre software is merely an information management tool and it is therefore not intended to substitute for the support of a health care professional. Individuals should always consult their health care professional if they have any queries or concerns about diabetes management.

System Requirements

A computer running one of the following operating systems:

• Microsoft Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit)

• Microsoft Windows 8 (32 or 64 bit)

• Microsoft Windows 10 (32 or 64 bit)

• OS X El Capitan

Licence and Service Agreement and Software Privacy Policy Before installing FreeStyle Libre software, you will be asked to accept the terms of Abbott Diabetes Care’s (“ADC” or “we” or “our”) Licence and Service Agreement and Software Privacy Policy. Please read these important documents. In summary, when you use FreeStyle Software, we will automatically collect data from your use of the Freestyle Libre products.

This means that ADC collects information about your computer, software, and device (including the device serial number) to ensure that you have up-to-date software. We also separately collect de-identified information to improve our products and services, and we may share this de-identified data with our partners; however, it is not possible for us or our partners to link this data to you in any way.

How to apply the FreeStyle Libre Sensor

Choosing the site

Select an area on the back of your upper arm, avoiding areas with moles, scarring, or recent insulin injections. Select a different site than the one most recently used¹.

Preparing your skin

Clean the skin with soap and water, dry the skin, wipe skin with an alcohol swab (let it air-dry) before proceeding. The site selected on the back of the upper arm should be clean-shaven¹.

Applying the sensor

The sensor pack and sensor applicator are packaged as a set¹.

a. Finger pricks are required if glucose readings do not match symptoms or expectations¹.

b. Sensor is water-resistant in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes. Not to be used above 10,000 feet¹.

c. In a study conducted by Abbott Diabetes Care, 92% of patients surveyed (n=119) patients agree that it was painless or almost painless to apply the sensor².

d. For a complete glycemic picture scan once every 8 hours¹.

e. The reader can capture data from the sensor when it is within 1 cm to 4 cm of the sensor¹.

f. The Glucose Trend Arrow may not always appear with your reading.
